The decorations are set, the family is here. It’s time to celebrate…our first annual holiday flash fiction contest!
We had such a great time reading all the wonderful entries for our Hundred Word Horror contest that we wanted to do it all over again. And so, Story Street Writers happily announce our Holiday Flash Fiction contest, with the theme: “The Aftermath”.
The contest is free to enter, and open for entries from November 15 through November 30, 2024 (Midnight EST). The winner will be announced on January 1, and receive a $100 prize and publication in the new Story Street Review online. The three runners-up will also be published, each receiving a $25 prize.
Once again, we will be limiting this to the first 1000 entries, so it pays to be early. This time, though, we’re setting a 250 word limit, so you’ll have more room to flex your word-muscles.
We are open to all holidays from all cultures for this contest. (And not just winter ones!) All we ask is try to match your story to our theme, which once again is: “The Aftermath” in whatever way that makes sense for the holiday and your story.
We’re going to also add some content guidelines. Please, no sexual violence and no child suicide. Also, if you have triggering content, make sure to mark the form for trigger warnings. That said, these are guidelines. Just make sure your content is meaningful and be respectful of readers.
You can add your entry on the Submissions Page. (See the complete list of contest details below.)
Again, be sure to sign up for our Newsletter to keep tabs on updates for this and future contests.
And as always, if you have any questions, please feel free to email info@storystreetwriters.com.
